UK: Patients left in ambulances for up to FIVE hours
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008The Daily Mail reports that patients are being left in ambulances for as many as 5 hours before being admitted into the A&E departments(ER’s). Why? The hospitals are doing it to make sure that they meet government targets for treating patients. Thats right, the NHS requires hospitals to treat these patients within 4 hours, so in order to satisfy this requirement, they don’t admit the patients until they can treat them within that time frame.
